I never thought I’d see the day when The Fiction Podcast Weekly would have enough readers and contributors to require a clearly defined editorial policy. Thank you for making this possible.
The Fiction Podcast Weekly accepts story submissions through The Fiction Podcast Weekly News Submission Form. This is the only way to send news items to The Fiction Podcast Weekly. If you send me your news items by any other means, I am more than likely to forget about the news item you sent.
The Fiction Podcast Weekly publishes links to:
Podcast industry news related to audio drama and fiction podcasting
Creator resources (behind-the-scenes strategies, classes, tutorials, where to find free or deeply discounted SFX or music, insights on the medium)
Opportunities (casting calls, festivals, competitions, calls for scripts or completed audio pieces)
Launches and Milestones (New podcast, new season, or something your show has never done before that's rare or unique in podcasting)
The Fiction Podcast Weekly does not publish the following:
Non-fiction podcasts (There are many newsletters for non-fiction podcasts. See Tink Media's Newsletter Database for a treasure trove)
Audiobooks
Fiction stories that can't be experienced using any podcast directory
News that doesn't direct to a stable URL and/or a linkable published episode ("I'm going to publish a podcast pretty soon if I have time" or "I read somewhere that Spotify makes your earbuds explode" doesn't work for our purposes)
AI-generated articles or instructional videos
Podcasts that depend on generative AI
Tools or software that I can't test
Gated content (anything requiring payment to read)
Any news that isn't relevant within seven days.
The Fiction Podcast Weekly’s Official Stance on Generative AI:
Out of respect for the many human artists who subscribe to the Fiction Podcast Weekly, their work, and their efforts to overcome obstacles to make their podcasts, I will not promote or accept advertising money to promote podcasts that use generative AI for a noticeable portion of the voice acting, writing, and/or visual art.
The submission deadline is Thursday at noon Eastern Time.
The goal of this newsletter is to help people learn to create fiction podcasts, improve the quality of the medium, and make it easier to share compelling stories that can’t be found elsewhere. Thank you again for your time, patience, and understanding.
Keep sharing good stories.
